Sunsets amaze me. I was very lucky to witness this gorgeous sunset at dusk today. I mean, aside from being romantic and all, sunsets just remind me of how powerful God is, how beautiful Mother Nature can be at times. It was definitely a sight to behold. There were shades of purple and orange and red and yellow and it was just breathtaking. No picture could ever portray the true beauty of a sunset.

Subhanallah :)

And look at this cloud! It looks like as if a meteor passed by and I can almost hear it going, psheeewww!

I'm loving the melancholic feel of this music score. I honestly think that Twilight, even though it's quite a crappy movie, has some of the best music scores ever invented. The composer, Carter Burwell, really did a great job :)

I was doing the SPM Results page for the school magazine, and then I looked at a picture of the top-scorers of the 2010 batch of fifth formers. I stared at that picture, hard, and I looked at each and everyone's faces.....

....and then I thought, if they could become a top-scorer, then why can't I? If they can go up on that stage as one of CBN's top-scorers, then why can't I?

I believe that I can do it. The only thing that's stopping me is laziness and my tendency to be distracted from something too easily.

It will be less than twelve months until the SPM results of 2011 come out. And when they do, when it's time for us to go to school and get our results, doggone it, I want my name to be called up on stage as a TOP-SCORER. I want to be one of them, to be a part of the people who have worked so hard throughout the year to score for SPM. I really, really do.

As for now, I'm trying to settle my extra-curricular assignments before I tend to my studies. I'll sit in front of this laptop the whole day if I have to, just to get my assignments done. For now, at least. During these two-week holidays, I plan to catch up on my studies, revise back everything that I've learned, and in between that maybe I'll squeeze in some time to paint. I realized that I have to work on my painting skills haha.

Yes...I can almost hear my name being called up on stage on the day we get our SPM results next year, I can almost feel that utter satisfying relief of knowing you've achieved your goal, and I can almost taste that sheer euphoria.

Hi, my name is Nur Iman Nedhiera bt Hashim, and I've just gotten 10A's for my SPM.

InsyaAllah :)

It feels good to know that at the end of the day, there will always be someone, anyone, who still cares about you, who's always there for you, despite all the good and bad things they've heard about you.

That, to me, is what friendship is all about.

La Mamounia Hotel, Marrakech. The website is professionally done. The background music is amazing, and the photos are even more amazing!  There are just so many wonderful photos that I don't know which one to choose haha. So I decided to just post the link to the whole website :)

I WANNA GO THERE SOMEDAY! :D

Today was very pleasant. Yes, it was very pleasant indeed :)

I started off my day by waking up to my brother's voice, telling me that we were going to go out for breakfast. I got excited, since we don't go out for breakfast often. So I immediately got up, took a shower and got dressed. We went to Sri Paandi's somewhere near my house and I brought along my brother's D5000. Got some pretty good shots there :)

Everyone was there except one of my sisters, who's stuck in another island designing industrial stuff. Haha. I love going to mamak restaurants. Especially when it's in the morning, or sometime late afternoon, when the sun is up and the weather's just perfect for the outdoors. It was a very pleasant morning indeed. The whole family was there, with the exception of my sister sadly, and we had breakfast outdoors with the pleasurable morning sun.

We stayed there for quite a while as we -- well, mainly the adults haha, talked about recent events and all. It's very rare of us to actually spend some quality time with each other, as a whole. Everyone's constantly busy with their own duties and errands and it's hard to get everyone to spend time together as a group. But I really enjoyed my morning. I just love starting my day with a delightful breakfast with my loved ones outdoors.

I also baked today hehe. I baked a batch of vanilla cupcakes since my brother wanted some. It felt so good to bake again! I haven't been doing some baking for a looooooooong time haha. I'm relieved at the fact that I still know how to bake :B

The icing was pretty messy haha but I didn't care. I was just too lazy to be perfect :P

I helped my mum cook lunch, too. After I was done slathering those cupcakes with a good dollop of sinful buttercream icing, I decided to help out my mum. We made chicken curry and man, that was some seriously good food there! I found that making chicken curry is pretty simple. So who knows, maybe I might make it myself next time hehe.

The chicken curry was ultra delicious. It was rich and creamy and it was just decadent. I wouldn't stop spooning some more chicken onto my plate and then I would drizzle a good spoonful of the creamy curry sauce on top of the pieces of chicken. Combine that with a little of my mum's super delicious sambal belacan and I was immediately transported to heaven haha. It was a really, really good lunch and I ate so much until I became so bloated. I'm still full till now haha.

Voila! My mum's super decadent, super flavourful chicken curry :)

Alhamdulillah. It was a very good day indeed.

It's been a while since I've baked. I might be baking a batch of cupcakes tomorrow for my brother, since he's craving for some haha.

While I was eating lunch today I was watching DC Cupcakes on Star World. It wasn't my first time watching the show but somehow watching that show today just left a positive impact on me. Basically the TV show revolves around these two sisters who ditched their corporate jobs to open up a bakery, a successful one, in fact. It's a really good show and I enjoy watching it.

Anyway, I noticed how fun it'll be to have your own bakery. I've been dreaming of opening up my own bakery someday since oh I don't know...since nearly six months ago. I've been infatuated with baking cupcakes for quite a while and I plan and I hope to open up my own cupcake bakery someday. It'd be family-oriented and those who come regularly would feel like as if they're a part of the community. Ceh. Haha.

Even my dad thought of the idea of me opening up my own bakery. He was watching DC Cupcakes with me too and then he said, "Nanti bila Iman dah besar buat la business sendiri. Bukak bakery." He sounded pretty serious and I'm glad about it hehe. So I told my dad that I've been considering the idea of opening up my own cupcake bakery.

I like putting a smile on people's faces with my baked goods. I don't know, there's just something so satisfying about seeing people smile at your own effort and hard work.

So, yes, DC Cupcakes inspired me to go for my dream, that is to open up my own cupcake bakery, selling all sorts of cupcakes for all occasions and for people of all ages. Hehe. InsyaAllah, I'll be able to achieve this one dream of mine :)

Some songs have the power to make me cry. Parachute happens to be one of those bands who make such good music that it's so hard not to love them. I literally teared up when I listened to their new album :')

PS : Sorry Malik! I stole the picture from your blog :P

4:47 PM

Sometimes we wonder,
'What did I do to deserve this?' or
'Why did God have to do this to me?'

Here is a wonderful explanation!
A daughter is telling her Mother how everything
is going wrong, she's failing algebra, her boyfriend
broke up with her and her best friend is moving away.

Meanwhile, her Mother is baking a cake and
asks her daughter if she would like a snack, and the
daughter says, 'Absolutely Mom, I love your cake.'
'Here, have some cooking oil,' her Mother offers.
'Yuck' says her daughter.
'How about a couple raw eggs?' 'Gross, Mom!'
'Would you like some flour then?
Or maybe baking soda?'
'Mom, those are all yucky!'
To which the mother replies:
'Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves.
But when they are put together in the
right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake! '
God works the same way. Many times we wonder why
He would let us go through such bad and difficult
times. But God knows that when He puts these things
all in His order, they always work for good! We just
have to trust Him and, eventually, they will all
make something wonderful!

God is crazy about you.
He sends you flowers every spring and
a sunrise every morning.
Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen.
He can live anywhere in the universe,
and He chose your heart.
If you like this, send this on
to the people you really care about.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are
here we might as well dance!

My mum forwarded me this email earlier today. Such wise words. It made me realize how grateful I am to believe in God :) Alhamdulillah.

3:01 PM

Afternoon!

I had a pretty good day today, so far. I sat for my remaining chemistry papers today and they were alright, I guess. I can't say they're easy but they weren't that hard either. I tried and did my best and now I'm hoping for the best.

My sister and my dad picked me up from school today. I got a pleasant surprise when they told me that we were going to have lunch at Lake Club. I got so excited and my stomach started grumbling haha.

I ordered a plate of spaghetti bolognaise but I only managed to finish half of the portion. It was very hearty and filling and I'm the type of person who gets full so easily haha. My dad ordered the restaurant's scrumptious roast lamb and it was just perfect. I had some of the roast lamb and man, did my taste buds squealed in delight. The roast lamb was awesome.

Then dessert came. My dad's roast lamb came together with a bread and butter pudding so when we were done with our main course the waiter came and delivered the pudding. It was alright, i mean, to me it didn't taste so fresh but it was good nonetheless.

My sister ordered some banana fritters with ice cream and I have to say, that was the best dessert I've ever eaten! Cakes? Nah. Pies? Boo. Pavlovas? Mehhh. Banana fritters with ice cream? HO YEAH.

The banana fritters were perfect and I'm not exaggerating. The bananas themselves weren't so mushy after being fried, but they were still moist. The batter that had been lovingly coated around the bananas was nice and crispy and it had just the right amount of saltiness. And the ice cream? It was just wonderful. The vanilla ice cream complemented the sweetness of the bananas and the slight saltiness of the batter. I'm telling you, those banana fritters with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream were heavenly! I was mentally doing a happy dance when I first tasted that dessert haha. Those banana fritters were so sinful but man were they good.

And another thing I like about the banana fritters? You can easily make them at home! :)

I had a good lunch with my dad and my sister. I wasn't expecting it earlier today but Alhamdulillah, my tummy has been fueled with some yummy, decadent food.

I'll be having addmaths tomorrow and I'm starting to freak out haha. I have a feeling that tomorrow I will be mentally traumatized haha.

Another place I plan to visit someday. Cameron Highlands 2012, insyaAllah.

8:59 PM

This morning was pretty, um...exciting. Haha.

After the usual (super looooooooong) assembly had concluded, we headed back to class as usual. I went to class a little bit late because I had my duty. It was just another typical Monday morning...until something happened at our classroom.

I was joining the freaking-out session with a few of my classmates just before our Biology Paper 3 started and that's when things got interesting. Our first front doors were initially shut at first, so then one of my classmates opened those doors. My back was facing those doors and coincidentally, just as my classmate opened those doors, something made me turn my head back and so I did. A few of us heard something that sounded like a pop, or something, and we saw something that came from above the door frame. At first I thought it was just a random animal, like a lizard or some sort, because what I saw was actually something black, like a shadow, flying from above the door frame to the veranda.

Some of us just shrugged it off but then that sound came again and this time it was louder. I was busily discussing the probable experiments that were going to show up in our Biology Paper 3, so again, I didn't know what really happened. Some of my classmates claimed that they saw sparks flying off from above our door frame, hence the pop sound. This time we started to get worried, so one of my friends ran downstairs to get our class teacher and the teacher who's in charge of all the technical stuff. I don't really know what the teachers did when they came because I was too busy studying bio haha. For some reason they left, and that's when we heard the pop sound again, this time even louder, and saw the evident sparks flying off from the wires above our door frame. All of us screamed in utter shock as we saw and heard those sparks, and I think my reaction was a few seconds too late because when everyone was done screaming, I was still screaming haha. We switched off all the fans and lights and it started getting hot, and I was already sweaty, so it spoiled my mood a bit.

Turns out the wires that were screwed to the wall above our door frame started had a few mini explosions. I don't know what caused it but there really were sparks flying off from those wires. It was dangerous as those explosions were pretty serious. Luckily there was no fire, and most importantly, no one got hurt.

Since it was pretty dangerous for us to be in the classroom, we were told to sit for our biology papers in the I-Smart Room next to the staffroom. That room is so cool I tell you. I mean, it looks like an ordinary classroom, but the technicians have installed two air-conds in it. Yay! Our teacher switched those on for us as it was pretty hot in that classroom. Sooooo, we did our Biology Paper 3 in an air-conditioned classroom HEHE. It was awesome.

After recess, us fifth formers had to sit for our next paper, which was Chemistry Paper 3, in the hall, because majority of our classes were in the same row as my classroom, the hazardous one that had sparks flying off from our door frame. I don't really know the reason behind why all of us had to sit for our exams in the hall, but I was pretty psyched about it. I don't know why. Excited to sit for SPM, perhaps? HAHA. No.

Biology Paper 3 was pretty easy but Chemistry was suicide. I've already studied the experiments that came out in the paper, but for some reason when I was sitting for that paper my mind was just blank. A few minutes prior to that I'd gone over again the important points and I could remember them. But just as I flipped open the first page of that paper, my mind was just empty. I couldn't think straight and I wasn't confident with my answers, even though I knew the answers perfectly well. In the end I tried and did my best and I managed to finish the paper ten minutes shy of the given time. I realized that I had an eye-popping headache so I decided to take a nap. I felt that I dozed off pretty long but it was only ten minutes haha. I thought the headache would recede but unfortunately my headache got worse. From time to time I massaged the bridge of my nose and I'd contort my face in pure agony.

I managed to arrive home at 3 today. I decided to relax myself and use the massage chair that overlooks the garden, just to calm myself mentally and physically. After about half an hour, my headache got worse, so I went to my room and dozed off. I was zonked out longer than I thought haha. The next thing I knew, it was already 5.45pm and I was still lying on bed. Hehe. I had such an unproductive afternoon -.-

Oh well. Gonna study more Chemistry laterrrrrr. I'm freaking out about Addmaths though :/

This song is just so...relaxing. I don't know, I feel that this band is just so...different. I love listening to them. Almost of their songs make me feel so peaceful and oddly, their songs remind me of the rainforest too hehe.

To some, it might seem like an ordinary, meaningless photo. But to me, I see an art behind this. I can see how this photo resembles loneliness and solitude, yet it can still stand strongly by itself with dignity. It might sound like as if I'm praising my own work, but I just wanted to let everyone know that this photo has got to be one of my favourite photos I've ever taken. To me it's meaningful.

Photography has become a part of me now and I can't be separated from it. It's a form of art that allows me to express my feelings and when I grow up, I want to apply what I know about photography to my occupation. Even though right now I'm considering taking up architecture when I'm done with SPM, my dream to become one of the most highly-talented, highly-respectable photographers working for National Geographic is still here.

I don't mean to brag but I have to admit, I've been given a gift from the Almighty Allah. I'm a lucky, lucky girl and I am very, very grateful for that. Alhamdulillah :)

My mood swings are seriously getting out of hand. I'm in this emotional rollercoaster ride and it's driving me nuts, hurting those around me. I talked to a friend about it and he told me that I'm probably stressed about exams, but the truth is I don't even feel stressed. Or maybe I am. Am I?

Shortly before dusk today I went outside to the garden because the weather was wonderful. It was bright and sunny and the air was pretty cool, compared to this afternoon. My sister left her Nikon D70S here and she allowed me to take care of it hehe. So I took her camera and I went out to the garden because I just felt like being outdoors. I managed to snap quite a number of photos of the garden, the sun, random objects. I've missed photography so, so much, because the Canon DSLR that I often used is broken so I had no camera. But thank goodness my sister decided to leave her Nikon here, so that I can play with it HAHA. But unfortunately, she'll be taking it back with her to Singapore in less than a week T_T

If you want to check out the photos I snapped today, you can visit my Flickr hehe.

And I have to say, this has got to be one of my favourite photos that I've snapped. Hehe. I used my sister's Nikon D70S with a Nikkor 50mm lens. It's been a while since I've worn my KRS combat boots. I felt adventurous, so I decided to put on my KRS combat boots while I snapped some photos outside at the garden haha. Yea it was hot, but I liked how I looked with my shorts and combat boots hehe. Berangan jap :B

I sort of felt a sense of freedom while I was out at the garden. The weather was just lovely, with the sun shining brightly and the sky a clear blue, and then an occasional breeze or two would waft by. It was rather hot and humid, yes, and I was already sweating, but I didn't mind at all. In fact, it felt good to sweat a bit in the hot weather. I was sweating slightly, but what was there to complain about? I was outdoors, I was ensconced with nature, and the air was fresh. There're trees everywhere and I could really feel like as if I belonged with nature. It was such a peaceful and serene moment for me and from now on, whenever I have the time during the day, I plan to go outside and just enjoy the outdoors. Enjoy nature.

It felt really good to just go outside and enjoy the outdoors on a bright sunny day. I plan to do it again tomorrow.

I'm grateful to Allah for blessing me, and also my family, with this heavenly abode of ours. The location of our house is just perfect for us and we're surrounded with nature. Trees can be seen everywhere here in this neighbourhood! Hehe. Alhamdulillah :)

Sunday, May 8
10:46 PM

Today is Mother's Day. I didn't get to see my mum this morning before she left for Singapore. I didn't get to hug her and kiss her goodbye before she left and now I feel like such an ungrateful child.

However, I did send her a text though. I wished her Happy Mother's Day and I hope she received it, because she didn't seem to reply me. Oh well. She's probably busy :(

Sigh. I only got to see my mum yesterday after so long. I miss her so much.

I managed to spend about a few minutes with my two sisters today. Everyone's been so busy lately and sometimes I just miss sitting down with my family in the living room and spending some quality time with them. I spent some quality time with my sisters before my dad had to send one of them to the bus station, since my sister had to go back to Singapore. Sigh. I hate goodbyes. Spending some time with them just now made me realize how much I've missed my family members. And right now I really miss everyone and I'm just waiting for the next family dinner (God knows when that'll be), where all eight of us get to spend our time together, sharing recent experiences and lame jokes, laughing boisterously in the restaurant until other tables turn their heads to look at us weirdly haha. I feel that it's been a while since we've done that.

I was feeling pretty sentimental just now so I decided to flip through an old photo album that has pictures of my mum and dad when they were younger.

My father. He was so handsome, and he still is! :) When I first saw this photo I was like, whoa. Segak gila my dad. Haha.

My mother and my grandmother back in the 70s. I want my mother's top!!!! :(

And last but not least...
This is just so sweet. It's sad that part of my father's face got cut off in this photo but this photo is really meaningful. This photo is my phone's wallpaper now :)

I might not always get along well with my parents, but at the end of the day, I still love them no matter no how. Alhamdulillah. I am truly, truly blessed to be in this family :)

Saturday, May 7

This is the kind of song that when you listen to it closely, you'll find tears in your eyes. Seriously, when I first heard this song, I was so moved by how beautiful this song is that tears started welling up in my eyes. This truly is a beautiful song :)

Today I finally saw my mum after like, what, a few days? I don't know. It's been a while since I've seen her and I've missed her so much! I found her in the kitchen after I was done showering and praying, cooking a pot of hearty spaghetti sauce. I was so glad to see my mother so I went up to her gave her a hug and a peck on the cheek. Hehe. Oh, the house is so fragrant with my mum's spaghetti sauce now. I've missed my mother's cooking, and it really does make a difference when you know you're eating what your mother has lovingly cooked up for you.

It's very sunny today and I'm grateful to Allah for letting us see the sun today. I mean, sure, the heat is intense and unbearable, but it's been a while since I've seen the sun in the evening. I don't really mind the heat, actually. Haha. It's so beautiful outside, albeit it's super hot. A few minutes ago I decided to go outside and snap a few photos of the outdoors, just to capture the sun. Since the Canon DSLR that I always use died on me and won't turn on, I just used my iPhone and got a little help from Instagraaammm! The coolest, awesome-est app in my phone hehe.

Ah, yes. Blue skies, the bright sun. Perfect weather to be outdoors :)

1:50 PM

Hello! It's been a while since I've written a proper blog post, isn't it?

Anyway, I had to go to school this morning because we had our first paper today. Sejarah. Eck. I found out that today wasn't even supposed to be a school day but somehow the ministry wanted to start our diagnostic exams on a SATURDAY. Started with Sejarah pulak tu. You crazy people, you!!! Wrecking our weekend mornings with THIS -.-"

I stayed up last night to study Sejarah but eventually I fell asleep on my bed. I remember looking at the clock and it was 3.30am. The next thing I knew it was already 6am. My lights were on and I was lying on top of my duvet, scattered with my notes. I managed to cover quite a few topics but i found out this morning that only so few managed to stick to the walls of my brain. There goes my long hours of painstaking history-reading. Bull.

I think the only thing I got right for both Sejarah papers were my name...and class. Haha. But I admit, for the essay questions in paper 2, I could answer some of them, thanks to my late-night cramming last night. There were a few questions where I crapped like nobody's business haha. Some of the questions were basic commonsense -.-"

Well, on the bright side, at least we've gotten over one of the painstaking subjects I don't really like.

Tomorrow's gonna be a looooong day. I'll be going to UM to attend a seminar for SPM candidates with some of my other schoolmates. It's gonna be nine hours long. Heh. Looks like I'll be needing lots of Kopiko candies tomorrow to keep me awake, just in case -.-

And now I shall take a nap. I only got two and a half hours of sleep last night haha.

Friday, May 6
6:44 PM

It's good to see the sun again at this hour of the day :)

This is one of those photos that don't even make sense haha. I only snapped this because I wanted to capture those crystal-like sun rays :)

And hell to the oh! My eyes literally popped out of their sockets when I saw this haha. I kid you not! Kitschy living forevaaaaa.

Her dress, her hair.... :O My ultimate girl crush hehe.

7:14 PM

New found loooooove. I think this TV show is awesome. Can't say I'm a fan of it but I love watching how everything and everyone look so retro and vintage in the show. Honestly, I'm not really interested in the storyline. I'm only interested in the settings of the show haha. Most of the time I don't really understand what's going on in the show, but all I know is that this show revolves around an advertising agency. Yeahhh. Everything's so retro and vintage and I've been infatuated with kitschy, vintage things for as long as I can remember.

And the soundtrack? Oh, it's just breathtaking. The dude behind the soundtrack, David Carbonara, he's done a wonderfully magical job at recapturing the vintage, retro vibe of the 60s in the songs he composed (and is still composing, I think). It's something different, not really something you'd find in those typical modern-day TV shows like err, I don't know. Haha. But the soundtrack is a definite A++++! I'm downloading them into my iPod now ngeeeeee.

My favourite character and setting of the show. Betty Draper in her kitchen. She is so gorgeous I tell you!! And I ADORE the kitchen :)

That's how the Drapers' kitchen really looks like. I'm practically salivating right now haha. It's gorgeeeoousssss! And don't even get me started on their clothes hehe.

It was fun holding the placard while marching with our fellow afternoon-session girls. Hehe. CBN's 2011 Sports Day yesterday marks the end of the busy, hectic month of April. It truly was the cherry on top of a wonderful month.

Ah, I miss it already :(

12:11 AM

Ah, yes, SMK CBN's Sports Day was held yesterday.

I'm not gonna write long but let me just tell you that I had such a wonderful day. It was so memorable and I'm glad that I took part in this event. I became the mascot for my house team, which is Pauline, and I just had so much fun.

I wore my rented Alice in Wonderland dress and the amount of compliments I received was overwhelming! I honestly do not mean to brag but when I saw the look on people's faces when they first saw the dress, I wanted to cry because I was so touched. Some even smiled at me even though they didn't even know me haha. So what did I do? I smiled back :)

Even a teacher came up to me and asked about the dress, hehe.

The Pauline marchers looked absolutely wonderful with their poker-card-looking vests. Or bibs. Whatever you call them haha. We were told that when they first started to march on the track, they were very synchronized and we were glad to hear that. I was standing waaaayyy in front of the marchers so I didn't really know how they did. But anyhow, I'm glad that no one from our house team fainted while the speeches were on. There were a couple of girls who fainted next to our house team, which was Adele. When I saw a couple of the PBSM girls who were on duty starting to look panicked, that's when I realized that someone fainted. They walked across the track to get the girl who fainted and my first thought was, Oh God please don't let them walk towards us! And they didn't. Hehe.

I'm really glad no one fainted in my house team. I think this year we didn't have so many girls who fainted as opposed to the previous years. I can still remember our Sports Day in 2008, so many girls fainted haha.

It was a beautiful day, albeit the weather was pretty cloudy. But it was spectacular nonetheless :)

Look! They're wearing the poker-card bows that I made! :D

 The marchers of Pauline :')

Here's one of our "guards", Denise; Me; Our eccentric Mad Hatter commander Adibah; and one of our house mates, Rozani. I'm so adoring Adibah's outfit! She looked spectacular and she really did look like the Mad Hatter! Notice her poker-card stick? :)

I have to admit, even though we didn't win first place overall -- in fact we got 3rd -.- -- I was glad that we've managed to claim the Best Flagbearers award! Hehe.

T'was a good day indeed. Alhamdulillah. Selesai :)

Now to work on my studies....
